In late August and early September, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple residential burglaries in Ijamsville that happened overnight while homeowners were home, according to the agency.
During the investigation, the sheriff’s office said that deputies were able to ascertain surveillance footage from neighborhood cameras which provided information that pointed them in the direction of a juvenile suspect.
The sheriff's office announced on Monday, Sept. 12 that the underage suspect has been apprehended and stolen property was recovered and returned to its rightful owners after the suspect’s parents cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators said that the minor was charged with three counts each of:
- First-degree burglary;
- Fourth-degree burglary;
- Theft of less than $1,500.
Detectives contacted the Department of Juvenile Services who made the decision to release the suspect, with a monitoring system, back to the parents.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with additional information has been asked to reach out to detectives at the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office by calling (301) 600-1046.
